I have run across a piece of software called "AstroImageJ" that automates astrophotometry using a modified version of ImageJ. I have installed it on my laptop (64 bit Intel core 4 with WIN 8.1 64 bit) and it seems to work OK. But I do not have a sequence of images to really say that it works completely. The article that put me onto this software was about an amateur astronomer, David Schneider, using a Canon XT and a 300mm lens to obtain data that verifies the transiting exoplanet around HD 189733. Sounds like something any of us could do.
